He said something very interesting that reflected a useful change of perspective. When writing for the piano, he said, “You’re not writing a piano piece. You’re writing a piece for two hands.”</p>
<p>This really stuck with me, as it returned the compositional focus back to the <em>humanity</em> of the music.</p>
