A program has been published for the Tuesday, February 19 New York Composers Circle concert. The concert starts at 8pm and the venue is Saint Peters Church at Citigroup Center. Soprano Sofia Dimitrova will be performing two songs of mine, accompanied by the piano trio Glass Farm Ensemble. I attended a rehearsal yesterday and the performers are in fantastic shape! Should be a good concert.

Sofia Dimitrova to perform Richard Russell songs February 19

Soprano Sofia Dimitrova will perform two Richard Russell compositions, “Amid the Blinding Snow” and “Crossing the Bar.” This will be the New York premiere of the two pieces, which are for soprano and piano trio.

The venue is Saint Peters Church at Citigroup Center, Lexington Avenue at 54th Street. The concert starts at 8pm, and there is a suggested donation of $20.

“A Poe Fantasia” premieres

I had been battling a cold (or something) all week, but I couldn’t miss the premiere of my new composition, “A Poe Fantasia” this past Tuesday, Feb 2, 2010. Soprano Sofia Dimitrova and accompanist Catherine Miller provided a compelling interpretation to my settings of the great poet Edgar Allan Poe: A Dream Within a Dream, To the River, and Alone. Two Rilke Songs on Dec 13

Quite unexpectedly, an opening has presented itself in the first New York Composers Circle concert of the 2007-08 concert season, and my Two Rilke Songs will be presented again.

The venue is the gorgeous Engleman Recital Hall at Baruch College, 55 Lexington Avenue at 25th Street. The concert is this Thursday, December 13, and starts at 8pm. There is a suggested donation of $15.

Soprano Sofia Dimitrova and violinist Stani Dimitrova are the superb sisters who interpret this piece, joined by Catherine Miller on piano.

Three Songs of Carl Sandburg in Bulgaria

Soprano Sofia Dimitrova performed a solo recital on July 10, 2006 to a full house in Bulgaria, including Richard Russell’s Three Songs of Carl Sandburg. Also on the recital were pieces by Mozart, Puccini, and Menotti. The accompanist was Marina Kapitanova. The venue was the Naval House in the city of Varna.
