about 6”30

Commissioned by soprano Marjorie Berg, who wished to have a song cycle reflecting Emily Dickinson‚Äôs sense of nature. The five songs of this cycle are (1) Frequently the woods are pink (2) An awful tempest (3) Will there really be a morning? (4) To hear an oriole sing (5) Epigram.

In the spring of 2010, I was encouraged to arrange this song cycle for piano quintet, which was premiered by Ms. Berg at The Bell and Barter Theater in Rockaway, NJ.
