Usually I write music with some sort of programmatic idea in mind. In the case of this harpsichord sonata, I simply wrote music. The harpsichord presents challenges for the composer: how to vary dynamics and texture while maintaining continuity and momentum. These there movements, in traditional fast-slow-fast arrangement, are my attempt to bring a modern sonority to the harpsichord.
