Innovation in Teaching Lecture

I will be presenting a lecture at Ethical Culture Fieldston’s “A Day of Innovation in Teaching” on February 17, 2015. I usually present this lecture to elementary school children, but the audience this time will be faculty from the school. I will reference my musical It Takes A Rainbow (book and lyrics by Emily Clare Thompson), but I will expand the talk to show examples teachers can use to aid students in fostering their own creativity. I cite Beethoven, Hitchcock, Star Wars, and others. Specifically, we will explore how music and sound can represent literary themes such as character, from villainy to the hero myth.

It will be interesting to report to professional educators the kinds of feedback I receive from the youngsters who hear my talk!
