Two pieces Premiered at Mannes

In Feb­ru­ary 2003, at the annual con­cert of new music by Mannes fac­ulty and alumni, two of Richard Russell’s recent com­po­si­tions were pre­sented. Just before inter­mis­sion, Three Songs of Carl Sand­burg was pre­miered with soprano Tiffany DuMouchelle accom­pa­nied by R. Stew­art Pow­ell, piano. After inter­mis­sion, Haim Avit­sur per­formed the solo on a piece for trom­bone and CD titled Bal­ance.
